Preparing for Your Family Session
Excited for your family session? Here are some tips to help you get ready and make the most of it!
Outfits: When choosing outfits, think about where we’ll be shooting. Stick to neutral colors that complement each other—this keeps the focus on your family. Avoid busy patterns, stripes, or big logos, as they can be distracting in photos. For nature settings, avoid green; for urban locations, skip gray or grunge tones. Aim for coordination, but don’t match too much. Most importantly, dress comfortably!
Shoes: Make sure everyone is wearing comfortable shoes, especially the kids! We’ll be moving around, and being able to walk easily helps with capturing those candid, fun moments.
Weather: It can get windy here, so choose outfits that won’t blow around too much, especially for the little ones.
Hair & Makeup: For natural, timeless photos, go with simple makeup and well-groomed hairstyles for everyone. If we’re outside, consider styling that keeps hair out of your face on breezy days.
Bags: Keep bags to a minimum. I need my hands free to capture those candid moments, and you want to be free to hold hands, hug, and move around without any distractions. If you need to bring anything extra, try to keep it in the car.
Things to Avoid: Skip sunglasses, super tight clothes, and crazy patterns, as they can limit comfort or be distracting in photos. Keeping things simple will help the focus stay on your family and your connection.
Be Yourselves: Most importantly, have fun and be yourselves! The more relaxed and comfortable you feel, the more your family’s personalities will shine through in the photos.
Looking forward to capturing your family’s special moments together!
