Senior Session Guide

What to Wear

  • Dress with confidence: Choose outfits that make you feel comfortable and reflect your personality.
  • Avoid busy patterns & graphics: Solid colors work best as they won’t distract from your face. Avoid neon colors, as they tend to reflect on the skin.
  • Formal look: For a polished look, consider a dress, skirt with a blouse, or a well-fitted suit. If it’s windy, avoid flowy dresses.
  • Ensure a good fit: Clothes shouldn’t be too tight or loose. Try sitting in them beforehand to ensure comfort.
  • Bring layers: Adding a jean jacket, blazer, or scarf can add variety and texture to your session.
  • Comfortable shoes: Choose shoes that are comfortable and won’t sink into grass or dirt. Bring a backup pair if needed.
  • Backup outfit: Bring an extra top or full outfit in case you change your mind.
  • Cap & gown: Ensure they’re ironed to avoid fold marks.

Hair & Makeup

  • Natural & polished: Go for a clean and fresh look that enhances your features.
  • Matte finish: If you tend to get oily, bring blotting papers or powder.
  • Minimal highlighter: Too much shimmer can be reflective under strong lighting, so keep it subtle.
  • Boys: Freshly shaved or well-groomed facial hair is important for a clean look.
  • Hair styled to your liking: Soft curls, waves, or a sleek look work best.

What to Bring

  • Extra outfits: Always good to have a backup in case you change your mind.
  • Props: Bring items that reflect your personality, like musical instruments, books, sports gear, or cultural items.
  • Cap, gown & stole: Ensure they are ironed and ready to wear.
  • Accessories: Hats, jewelry, a letterman jacket, scarves—anything that adds personality.
  • Comfortable shoes: Especially if walking is involved during the session.
  • Water bottle: Stay hydrated, especially for longer sessions.
  • Childhood photo: If you’d like to incorporate a then-and-now moment, bring a photo from your early years.
  • Medals, awards, or special items: Highlight your achievements and passions.
  • Tote bag: To keep everything organized and easily accessible.

Final Tips

  • Check your teeth: Make sure to clean your teeth before the session. Avoid foods like Cheetos that might stain.
  • Moisturize & hydrate: Keep your skin fresh and glowing.
  • Arrive early: Plan to be at the location 15 minutes before your session to settle in and prepare.
  • Send pose ideas: If you have specific shots in mind, feel free to share them with me before the session.
  • Relax & have fun: The best photos happen when you’re enjoying the moment. Don’t be afraid to let loose and be yourself.
